As we all know, asphalt PET coil is a rollable sheet that consists of a carcass, coating material and a barrier material. What is the insulation material on the surface of asphalt PET coil? What does it do? Around these two questions, we briefly describe the types and functions of the isolation material.

Commonly used isolation materials are divided into the following four categories: polyethylene film (PE), fine sand (s), mineral particle (page) material and PET aluminized film.

Its properties and functions in PET coil are described as follows:

1. Polyethylene film

Polyethylene film, that is, polyethylene film, refers to a film made of polyethylene particles. Its density is about 0.92g/cm³. The waterproof membrane separator film generally adopts black low-density polyethylene film, which has the advantages of waterproof, moisture-proof, dustproof, and large tensile elongation, thereby improving the waterproof effect of the membrane to a certain extent.

2. Fine sand

Natural sand is divided into river sand, sea sand and mountain sand. According to the particle size and particle size, it is divided into coarse sand, medium sand and fine sand. The fineness modulus of fine sand is 2.2-1.6, the average particle size is 0.35-0.25mm, and the total weight of particles with particle size greater than 0.075mm exceeds 85%; The quality of fine sand has a great influence on the bonding effect of coil coatings, so incoming inspection is very important. Special attention should be paid to fineness modulus and sludge content index in the detection index of fine sand. Fine sand can not only prevent the self-adhesion of PET coil, but also improve the hardness, anti-aging, anti-ultraviolet and other properties of the coil, improve the appearance of the roof, and reduce the roof temperature.

3. Mineral granular (flake) material

Mineral particle structure includes gneiss structure, layered structure, thousand rock structure, plate structure, block structure, etc., generally using shale flakes with layered structure as isolation materials, is a large number of layered minerals parallel arrangement formed thin layer structure (such as mica, chlorite, talc, graphite, etc.). Mineral granular (PAGE) materials can protect coils from ultraviolet radiation, improving the aging resistance and durability of coils.

4. Pet aluminum foil film

PET aluminum foil film is a film with comprehensive properties. It has excellent mechanical properties, good dimensional stability, excellent heat and cold resistance, good chemical and oil resistance. It also has excellent optical properties. The film has a mirror surface and has a good packaging and decorative effect. It protects the coil from ultraviolet radiation, improving the coil's aging resistance and durability.

5. Precautions for PET coil laying

1) When laying PET coil, the sealing place of the membrane should be temporarily sealed (sealed with tape or thickened cement mortar) to prevent the rapid loss of moisture at the end of the standing wall.

2) The short-edge seams of the adjacent two rows of coils should be staggered by more than 300mm to avoid overlapping multi-layer seams and uneven coil pasting.

3) After the construction of the waterproof layer is completed, the acceptance should be organized as soon as possible, concealed in time, and should not be exposed to the sun for a long time. During winter construction, attention should be paid to the ambient temperature not less than 5 °C, otherwise it will have a certain impact on the waterproof effect.

4) When the PET coil is applied on the façade and the width of the plate is large, appropriate fixing measures can be supplemented at the corners.

5) If the membrane lap joint is contaminated during construction, the membrane should be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth.
